Your Journey to a Fuller Figure

A Surgical Solution to Enhance Your Curves

Increase breast size and improve proportion with saline implants, silicone implants, or fat transfer — tailored to your anatomy and goals.

Breast Augmentation at a Glance

  • Overview

Breast augmentation increases the size of the breasts using saline implants, silicone implants, or fat transfer. It is a highly personalized procedure designed to help women achieve their aesthetic goals — restoring lost volume, correcting asymmetry, or creating a fuller bust. Implants can be placed in one of three planes: under the muscle (subpectoral), under the fascia (subfascial), or under the breast tissue (subglandular).

  • Recovery

This is an outpatient surgery — you go home the same day. Swelling and bruising are expected, and a surgical bra is worn for support. Most patients return to work and light activities within one to two weeks, with a full return to strenuous exercise in about six weeks. The implants gradually 'drop and fluff' into their final position over several months.

  • Results

Results are immediate and transformative, providing a more proportionate and defined breast contour. We think of this as an investment in yourself — and patients describe a confidence boost in how their clothes fit and how they feel in their own body.

Breast Augmentation

Am I a Good Candidate?

You are an excellent candidate for breast augmentation if you are bothered by the size or shape of your breasts and have a clear, realistic idea of your desired outcome. This procedure works well for women who feel their breasts are too small, who have lost volume after pregnancy or weight loss, or who have asymmetry between their breasts. It is important that you are in good overall health and have realistic expectations. Breast augmentation is highly individualized — we will work with you to choose the right implant type, size, and placement. If you use any sort of nicotine product, you will be asked to abstain for a minimum of 6–8 weeks before and after surgery to ensure proper healing.

What Do Scars Look Like?

Breast augmentation requires incisions to place the implants. Our surgeons place these incisions in discreet, inconspicuous locations — in the natural fold of the breast (inframammary) or around the areola (periareolar). The choice of incision location depends on your unique anatomy and the type of implant chosen. While the scars are a permanent part of your breast, they are a small trade for the life-changing results. With proper care, they fade over time and can be well-concealed with clothing or swimsuits.

Saline vs. Silicone Implants

Saline vs. Silicone Implants

We offer both saline and silicone implants, and the choice is a personal one. Saline implants are filled with a sterile saltwater solution, are inserted while empty, and then filled to the desired size. If a saline implant ruptures, the solution is harmlessly absorbed by the body. Silicone implants come pre-filled with a cohesive gel designed to mimic the feel of natural breast tissue — they are known for a more natural look and feel, especially in patients with less natural breast volume. We will discuss the pros and cons of each type during your consultation.

Under the Muscle or Over the Muscle

Another key decision is the placement of the implant. The implant can be placed behind the breast tissue and in front of the pectoral muscle (subglandular), under the fascia of the pectoralis muscle (subfascial), or behind the pectoral muscle (submuscular). Each placement has different trade-offs for natural feel, settling time, and how the implant ages over time. Your surgeon will discuss the best option for you based on your body type and desired outcome.

Surgeon's Notes

Jane Namkung, MD

The two most important decisions — and why I make them with you, not for you

Two decisions drive every breast augmentation: which implant, and where to place it. Both have right-and-wrong answers for individual patients, and both come down to your anatomy and your goals. Saline gives a more even result if you have a lot of natural breast tissue to drape over the implant; silicone feels more like natural breast tissue and is the right choice when you have less coverage. Submuscular placement looks more natural at the upper pole but takes longer to settle; subglandular placement is faster to recover from but more visible. I bring measurements, photos, and implant sizers to consultation so you can see and feel the options on your own body — and then we make the decision together. The patients who do best are the ones who understand the trade-offs before surgery, not after.

Breast Augmentation Recovery & Results Timeline

Please remember this is just a guide for Breast Augmentation recovery. Every individual and recovery is unique. Your surgeon will provide you with personalized instructions and recovery times after your procedure.

1

Day 1 – 3

You will experience pain, swelling, and tightness in your chest. You will need to take it easy and get plenty of rest.

2

1 – 2 Weeks

The majority of pain will have subsided, and you can typically return to work and light, non-strenuous activities.

3

4 – 6 Weeks

The remaining swelling will continue to resolve. You can gradually return to a full exercise routine, but avoid heavy lifting and chest exercises.

4

3 – 6 Months

The implants will have fully "dropped and fluffed" into their final, natural-looking position, and the final results will be fully apparent.
