A Surgical Solution for a Contoured You

A multi-stage approach to remove excess skin and fat after significant weight loss — revealing the healthy body you've worked so hard to achieve.

Post-Weight Loss Body Contouring at a Glance

  • Overview

Post-weight-loss surgery is a comprehensive series of body contouring procedures designed to address the loose, sagging skin that remains after significant weight loss. These procedures are highly customized to each patient's needs and can include a combination of surgeries to create a more toned and defined body.

  • Recovery

Recovery is a multi-stage process that varies by procedure. Expect a few weeks of limited activity after each surgery, with a gradual return to your normal routine over several months as the swelling resolves and the body heals.

  • Results

Results are immediate and transformative — and they reveal a body that finally reflects the hard work and dedication of your weight-loss journey. The improvements are dramatic and permanent.

Am I a Good Candidate?

You are an excellent candidate for post-weight-loss surgery if you have lost a significant amount of weight and are left with loose, sagging skin that does not respond to diet and exercise. This is a common — and often deeply frustrating — issue for patients who have undergone bariatric surgery, used GLP-1 medications, or successfully lost a large amount of weight on their own. The best candidates for this surgery are at a stable weight for at least a year and are in good overall health. We will assess your specific needs and create a surgical plan tailored to your body. This is often a life-changing step that helps you feel more comfortable and confident.

What Do Scars Look Like?

Post-weight-loss surgery is major surgery that will result in permanent scars. The trade-off — visible scars in exchange for a contour that matches your weight loss — is something we discuss thoroughly in consultation. Our surgeons are skilled at placing incisions in the most discreet locations possible (natural body folds, along the bra line, low on the abdomen). Scars fade over time and can usually be concealed with clothing. We believe the life-changing results are worth the trade, but you should make that decision with a clear understanding of what scarring will look like.

A Staged Approach to Body Rejuvenation

A Customized, Multi-Stage Process

Post-weight-loss surgery is rarely a single procedure — it is a series of customized body contouring surgeries designed to address excess skin on different areas of your body. This can include a tummy tuck to flatten the abdomen, an arm lift (brachioplasty) to tighten the upper arms, an upper body lift to address sagging skin on the back and chest, and a thigh lift for the legs. Your surgeon will work with you to plan the sequence based on which concerns matter most and what your body and life can accommodate.

The Final Step in a Life-Changing Journey

Losing a significant amount of weight is a monumental achievement, and post-weight-loss surgery is the final step in that transformation. The procedures help to redefine your body’s contour and allow you to fully enjoy the results of your hard work. We are dedicated to providing a safe, satisfying experience that helps you feel as good on the outside as you do on the inside.

Surgeon's Notes

Jane Namkung, MD

Why I plan post-weight-loss surgery in stages

Post-weight-loss patients often want everything done at once — they're tired of the loose skin and ready to move on. I understand that, but I rarely do it. The reason is risk. Operating on multiple body areas in one session means longer anesthesia time, more bleeding risk, and a much harder recovery. My standard approach is to stage the procedures — typically tummy tuck first (the highest impact procedure for most patients), then arm lift or thigh lift 6 months later, and breast or upper body work after that. Each surgery is shorter, each recovery is more manageable, and the cumulative result is just as transformative. The patients who push hardest for the all-in-one approach are usually the ones who end up most appreciating the staged plan.
