Reclaim Your Body After Motherhood

A Comprehensive Approach to Post-Pregnancy Contouring

A customized combination of surgical procedures designed to address the physical changes that occur after pregnancy and childbirth — typically combining tummy tuck and breast surgery in a single recovery.

Mommy Makeover at a Glance

  • Overview

A mommy makeover is a highly customized combination of surgical procedures designed to address the physical changes that occur after pregnancy and childbirth. It typically includes a tummy tuck to flatten the abdomen and a breast procedure — a lift, augmentation, or both — to restore a more youthful contour.

  • Recovery

As a combination procedure, recovery is more involved than a single surgery. Expect a few weeks of limited activity and a gradual return to your normal routine over several months as swelling subsides and the body heals.

  • Results

Results are immediate and transformative. The procedure provides a more toned abdomen, a youthful breast contour, and an overall more defined silhouette — restoring a body that reflects the work you've already put in.

Am I a Good Candidate?

You are an excellent candidate for a mommy makeover if you are finished with childbearing and are bothered by the physical changes pregnancy left behind — loose, sagging abdominal skin, separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti), and breasts that have lost volume or sag. It is important to be at a stable weight and in good overall health before undergoing this procedure. A mommy makeover is a life-changing solution for women who have worked hard to lose their pregnancy weight but are left with a body contour that doesn't reflect that effort.

What Do Scars Look Like?

A mommy makeover results in scars, but our surgeons place the incisions in the most discreet locations possible. The tummy tuck scar is typically placed low on the abdomen, from hip to hip, where it can be well-concealed by underwear or a bikini. Breast surgery incisions are placed in the natural folds of the breast and around the areola to minimize their appearance. While the scars are real, they fade over time and become much less noticeable.

A Single Recovery for Multiple Procedures

The Surgical Process

A mommy makeover is a highly customized surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia. The surgeon performs a combination of procedures tailored to your specific needs. This typically includes a tummy tuck to repair stretched abdominal muscles and remove excess skin, paired with a breast procedure to restore volume, lift the breasts, or both. The entire process is designed to be as safe and efficient as possible, providing a comprehensive solution in a single surgical session.

A Holistic Approach to Post-Pregnancy Confidence

The physical changes that occur after pregnancy can be a source of significant frustration for many women. A mommy makeover is a holistic approach to body contouring that addresses what diet and exercise alone cannot — particularly diastasis recti, the separation of the abdominal muscles that nearly always accompanies pregnancy. Our surgeons will work with you to create a personalized plan that addresses all of your concerns and helps you reclaim your body.

Surgeon's Notes

Jane Namkung, MD

Why we combine procedures in one recovery

Some practices split a mommy makeover into two or three separate surgeries spread across a year. We typically don't — and the reason matters. A patient who's already taken time off work and arranged childcare for one surgery has a much harder time doing it three times. By combining the tummy tuck and breast work in a single, well-planned operation, we ask for one recovery instead of three. The trade-off is that the combined surgery is longer (typically 4–6 hours) and the early recovery is more involved. We have a careful conversation in consultation about whether you have the support at home — partner, family, paid help — to manage that first week. With the right support, the combined approach is significantly easier on a patient's life overall.
